Episode IV

It’s been a while, but we did it. The complete German “Das Imperium schlägt
zurück – Despecialized Edition 2.1” is finally finished!

Based on Harmy’s “The Empire Strikes Back – Despecialized Edition 2.0” (encoded
from his lossless raw footage, thanks again Harmy!) we‘ve yet again set out to
re-construct the German theatrical experience from December 1980 as closely as
possible. Picture-wise this “only” means we had to re-create the German title
cards and opening crawl (the latter sourced from a 35mm print of the original
crawl – including the “ZÜRUCK”-typo), as neither TESB nor ROTJ featured German
end credits.

So, why is this called 2.1 you might ask? Well, this version is different from
Harmy’s 2.0 in a few more aspects: The end credits are now completely sourced
from a 35mm scan (no more GOUT-upscale here), plus there’s one shot of Han and
Leia in the Cloud City apartment that somehow always bothered me in Harmy’s
DeEd. So that shot is now completely replaced with a cleaned-up version from
TN1’s Grindhouse release. That goes for a few other shots as well (Harmy, you
sneaky bastard!).

Still, most of the work went into synching and editing a selection of German
audio tracks (Thanks to cvs and J.J._McQuade for their help on these!), first
and foremost a GOUT-based stereo track with missing material re-inserted, to
mimic the theatrical audio experience from 1980. Furthermore we’ve added two
Laserdisc stereo tracks, the 1993 SilverScreen Edition and the 1995 THX
release. As a fourth audio option we’ve included a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
track, edited from the 2011 Blu-ray. English 5.1 (by hairy_hen) and 1.0 (by
Puggo and Mavimao) are also included, as well as an isolated music track
containing only John Williams’ film score. Optional German and English
subtitles were added as well, taken from Catbus’ Project Threepio.

Die Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter – Despecialized Edition 2.5 (German) – Laserschwert

Finishing the trilogy, we’re proud to present the complete German “Die Rückkehr
der Jedi-Ritter – Despecialized Edition” 2.5!

Based on Harmy’s “Return of the Jedi – Despecialized Edition 2.5” (once again,
encoded from his lossless raw footage, all hail Harmy!) we‘ve tried to
re-create the final chapter’s theatrical experience from December 1983 as good
as we could. This includes a re-creation of the German opening titles plus
crawl, as well as the Jabba and Boushh subtitles.

Again we’ve included a selection of several German audio tracks (Thanks again
to cvs and J.J._McQuade for their help!), but this time it wasn’t as simple as
using the GOUT’s audio track as the basis. The German GOUT track goes in and
out of sync during the film, a problem which is not only part of the GOUT but
also the Silverscreen Laserdisc release, which the GOUT uses. So to fix the
sync issues, we’ve painstakingly edited and retimed a bit-perfect capture of
the Silverscreen Laserdisc, now being synced up properly throughout the movie.
With missing material re-inserted, this track now serves as the main audio
track for the movie.

Joining the (now synced) 1993 Silverscreen LD audio, we’ve once again added the
audio from the 1995 THX release, plus a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track edited
from the 2011 Blu-ray. English 5.1 and 2.0 tracks (by hairy_hen) are also
included, as well as an isolated music track containing John Williams’
Oscar-nominated score. Optional German and English subtitles were added as
well, taken from Catbus’ Project Threepio.

Krieg der Sterne – Despecialized Edition 2.7 (German) – Laserschwert

UPDATE (February 13th, 2017)
The German Krieg der Sterne – Despecialized Edition is now at version 2.7 as
well, thanks to towne32 and his Color Adjustment Project of Harmy’s DeEd.
Aside from towne’s complete color overhaul this version features new
Lucasfilm and Es war einmal… title-cards (based on a German 35mm scan by
poita), as well as a new German crawl with a revised Krieg der Sterne logo
made by me.
There are no changes to the audio-side of things, so to see what’s included
you can read the original post below.

ORIGINAL POST:
It‘s finally done!
The complete German Krieg der Sterne – Despecialized Edition 2.5 Based on
Harmy’s Star Wars – Despecialized Edition 2.5 (and utilizing his lossless
raw footage, thanks Harmy!) we’ve tried to re-construct the German theatrical
experience from 1978 as closely as possible. This includes German title cards,
opening crawl and Greedo subtitles, as well as the complete German end credits
to the film.
Adding to that we’ve included a variety of German audio tracks, first and
foremost a GOUT-based stereo track with missing material (spoken lines, music
cues, sound effects) re-inserted, to mimic the theatrical audio experience
from 1978. Furthermore we’ve added two Laserdisc-based stereo tracks, both
from the 1993 SilverScreen Edition and the 1995 THX release. Finally a 5.1
DTS-HD Master Audio track, edited from the 2011 Blu-ray release, tops off the
German audio tracks. English 5.1 (by hairy_hen) and Monomix tracks are also
included, as well as a score-only track containing only John Williams’
soundtrack to the film. German and English subtitles are included as well,
thanks to Catbus’ Project Threepio.
Also, thanks to chyron8472, a torrent for this is available at Myspleen.
